Out of the Blue
Elements of Ceramics
Class of 2022
This was my first year taking a ceramics class and my first time ever touching a wheel. I focused on making all functional pieces of art. The main elements and principles I used were color, form, balance, contrast, and rhythm. I dipped my bowls in half white and half blue glaze to create contrast. The colors compliment each other to make my pieces pop. I believe the blue and white against each other help create a sense of rhythm and peacefulness because neither of the two colors are too harsh. I wanted my bowls to be functional but also pretty to look at. I hope to further my ceramics career next year by taking either advanced ceramics or studio workshop.
